Dallas frowned slightly as Owen mentioned not eating dinner alone at college, really hoping that wouldn't be a possibility. She had avoided people at school for so long though, that sometimes she worried that she didn't even know how to make friends anymore. Even if they weren't football obsessed Texans. At least here everyone knew and worshipped her brother, but once she went off to college, she would be a nobody. That's what she wanted all along though, right? "Okay, next time that you and your friends do something, invite me," she told him with a nod, thinking that she would actually take his advice.

"Yeah, I'm way too loud to ever be sneaky," she agreed with his comment. "Anyway, my mom will probably end up waiting up just to ask me how my night was," she added with a shrug. Sometimes her mom was more concerned with her social life than she was. Seriously, if her mom even knew that she was friends with Owen, she'd be trying to set them up on some sort of date.

"Um, yeah, I do that basically all the time," she said in response to his remark about saying things without fully thinking them through. "I don't understand why you're so nice to me," she told him after he explained that he was willing to do whatever she wanted. "I mean, yeah, you're a nice person. But I'm not Brittni-June or whichever other cheerleaders are super into you."

Owen grinned as Dallas asked him to invite her along the next time he did something with his friends, pleased but more than a little surprised. Most of the time, Dallas barely tolerated most of his friends at best, so he hadn't really expected her to take his suggestion so seriously. "Deal," he said, and mentally went through some of the friends he thought she might actually get along with. The problem was most of the friends who didn't completely fit the dumb jock stereotype were either already aware of his crush on her or would be after watching them interact for more than five minutes. He really didn't want Dallas finding out because one of his friends couldn't keep their big mouths shut. Or really, finding out at all.

He nodded as she explained there was a good chance her mom would be up waiting for her, wanting to her the details. "That's cool. My mom's kind of like that. She's super friendly with a lot of my friends and stuff, too, which is... weird. I guess she's the cool mom or whatever?" He shook his head, smiling a little. "Junior prom, she texted all my friends telling them to have a fun but safe night and stuff, and I was so pissed. Now, I don't know. It was kind of nice."

His forehead crinkled as she told him she didn't get why he was so nice, not sure why she'd expect anything else. "Uh.... you think I should be mean to you instead?" he tried to clarify, sometimes really not getting the way Dallas's mind worked. He reddened a little as she compared herself to Brittni-June and the cheerleaders, staring down at the ground and kicking at a rock. "I'm not - I mean, BJ's nice and stuff, and that was fun for a while, but..." He trailed off with a shrug, feeling a little awkward about having to explain he'd just been a horny teenage boy and only realized afterwards that they hadn't really had anything in common. Somehow, he doubted that would go over well.
