Robbie smiled as Savannah told him he'd had a good answer, leaning over to kiss her quickly. "It wasn't strategic," he assured her. He rolled his eyes as she told him he hadn't been enough competition in bowling, realizing he probably shouldn't have been so surprised. This was the same woman who was always trying to convince him to drive faster because someone so much as looking at them in the next lane over must be challenging them. "I was distracted! You're shameless when it comes to getting a competitive advantage!" He made a face, and thought out loud, "Do you think seven gutter balls in a row is some kind of record?"

He fell silent as Savannah suggested his parents still wanted him to marry Gia, not really sure he could disagree. "I don't think my parents would plot to break us up," he said instead, skipping over her first assumption entirely. "They want me to be happy. Maybe what we need to do is make it a point of letting them know you make me happy."

His eyebrows shot up at how easily Savannah admitted it mattered to her what his parents thought, having expected to need to drag it out of her or only get confirmation through what she didn't say. "Then I'll talk to them. We can go out to dinner with them soon, so that they can see this is serious. And it is," he assured her as she worried she was some meaningless fling. The whole idea seemed ridiculous, considering how long they'd been together and that they'd talked about her potentially moving in, vaguely, at some undefined point in the future. They'd discussed making plans, at least, and that seemed huge.

Whether she was a rebound was a more complicated matter. She wasn't now, he knew that much, but the question was if that meant she wasn't anymore. "I probably shouldn't have asked you out as soon after ending things with Gia as I did," he acknowledged after a minute, knowing it could be uncomfortable for her to hear. "I guess it had all the markings of a rebound? Like, I wasn't expecting it to last long or get serious but... I'm glad it did." He brought an arm around her shoulders to draw her to his side, and placed a kiss over her temple. "There's nothing meaningless about this, though, Savannah. It's real. I can't really regret rushing into it because there's nothing to regret."
